Market orders and fees

A market order buys or sells at the fresh price of record and pays a 1.25% paper fee.

> in plain words

  1. A market order trades right away at the latest price.
  2. Each buy and each sell pays a 1.25% paper fee.
  3. If the price is over 15 seconds old, the order fills nothing.

Example math. Actual fills round fees up to lamports and token amounts down to base units.

The fee comes out first

A 1 SOL buy pays 0.0125 SOL in fees. The remaining 0.9875 SOL buys tokens. On a sell, the fee comes out of the proceeds. Both fees count in PnL.

One price for the ordinary fill

The chart, ordinary paper fills and your position value read the same stream. A quiet coin can use a fresh sell quote when it has no recent trade.

Illustrative swaps, no live feed. A new price updates the chart and position together. It never rewrites a past fill.

The 15 second rule

A tick must be no more than 15 seconds old, from the current pool, and not in the future. Otherwise the order returns stale_price and fills nothing. A converted pair also needs a SOL/USD rate no more than 15 seconds old.

Easy fills are active. They use the tick without simulating your size moving the pool. They are practice fills, not a guarantee of real execution.
